Hello Family!

My name is Laurie Sherwood. I am the granddaughter of John and Dorothy Damm; the daughter of Bob and Carol (Damm) Sherwood. My sister, Amy, started this blog. I also have a brother, Bob Sherwood, Jr. My sister has 7 kids and my brother as one child.

I have been living in Richland, Washington for about 9 1/2 years and I am the legal secretary for the senior partner of a 9 attorney firm in Kennewick, Washington.

About 5 years ago, I had a major stroke. I had to learn how to read, talk, walk, type, feed myself all over again. The reason I had the stroke (at 26 years old) was because I had a whole between the chambers of my heart, so I had open heart surgery 6 weeks after my stroke. During this time, my family was my strength. I can't even think about where I would be right now if my family had not been there for me, rallied behind me, challenged me to recover, talked for me when I couldn't, stood up for me when I couldn't, laugh with me and cry with me. Everyone that came and visited me the hospital and at Mom and Dad's house was very important to me! Dad, Mom, Amy and Bobby, thank you for everything!

I just like to tell my story because it shows how important family is in my life. I can't wait to meet other relatives, hear family stories and keep in touch!
